We offer program opportunities for every age level. Girls may choose from a variety of special events offered throughout the council jurisdiction. Adults have a variety of training classes available.  Sort by category to make your search easier!

  • Your Future Looks Bright

    In sessions facilitated by college professors, girls will enjoy a taste of college life and learn skills that will come in handy through fun, interactive workshops related to science, technology, engineering, and math.  In addition, the girls will also:
    • Learn how to develop their own web page
    • Participate in teamwork skill building activities
    • Attend a leadership seminar
    • Learn how to keep friendships and relationships healthy
    • Learn how to position themselves now to earn college scholarships for the future at a college fair
    • Learn how to check tire pressure and change a flat tire

    If Girl Scouts desire activity badges for participating, they will need to pay $6.00, which will cover the cost of the following badges: Technology, Computer Knowledge, Building Leaders, Team Spirit or College Fair

    Girls are also requested to wear their Girl Scout uniforms. 

    Cost: FREE- Girls will need to bring a sack lunch to the event.

    Curious about the collegiate experience? Class is in session with Girl Scouts Heart of the South!

    Through a series of workshops, Girl University addresses questions from girls and parents about planning for life after high school. Come with your questions about college applications, financial needs, how to choose a major, working with college advisors, college life and more! Cost includes snack and program materials.

    Who: Seniors, Ambassador & girls in grades 9 – 12, parents, leaders

    Cost: $15 per person

    Min/Max: 35/50 girls (+2 parents per girl)

  • Designer Girlz - Part 2

     Do you want to change the world? Join us for a two part series completing awesome experiments, tons of hands-on activities, and engineering your own invention.

    You’ll have the opportunity to meet women who are engineers and learn from them about the many aspects of engineering. You don’t have to be great at science, or even know anything about engineering. Just come to be bold, inventive, and creative, meet new people and have an awesome time!

    Please bring a bag lunch and a drink.

    Who: Juniors, Cadettes & girls in grades 4-8

    Cost: $20 for both sessions, $5 discount for girls who bring non-Girl Scout friends

  • Volunteer Essentials

    This session is for new volunteers serving in any pathway.

    Come learn more about Girl Scouts as a movement and our rich tradition. Your adventure starts by learning about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and program resources available to make your journey and that of the girls a memorable one.

    Information will also be shared with you concerning the healthy development of girls, how to keep girls safe, taking trips and hosting events, and helping girls manage group finances, including details on the Girl Scout Cookie Sale.

    Topics for volunteers working directly with troops, such as how to form a troop committee, how to hold a parent first meeting and how to plan and hold troop meetings will be highlighted.

    Course is required and needs to be completed prior to meeting with girls.

  • Gold Award Training

    Let us help your girls unravel the mystery in their quest for Gold Award!

    We’ll help them cover the ins and outs, like paperwork, requirements, timing, and deadlines. Training is MANDATORY for any girl who wishes to pursue earning the Gold Award. Please use separate Event Registration forms for each training being attended.

  • Leadership Essentials

    Discover, Lead and Take Action by learning how to help your girls develop their own leadership skills. 

    This course is for all volunteers working with girls and includes an overview of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, introduces the Journey resources and teaches how to effectively partner with girls to make their plans & goals a reality. This course is the new requirement for grade level training.

    Course is required and needs to be completed within the first two months of meeting with girls.

    All experienced leaders need to take this session as well.

    Or are you a Journeys expert?

    Join us for Journeys: Road Trips and Detours! During these fun, interactive sessions, leaders will have a chance to meet other leaders and share ideas on how to design (along with the girls, of course!) a cool and exciting Girl Scout year. You’ll have an opportunity to explore the Journey books from all three series, find out what’s coming up next for Girl Scout badges and work with your grade level team to design a sample year using ideas the team comes up with to supplement the grade level resources.

  • Grizzlies Girl Scout Night

    Girl Scouts Heart of the South has teamed up with the Memphis Grizzlies to host a special Girl Scout Night in celebration of our 100th Anniversary. Girl Scouts, their family and friends can purchase specially priced tickets to come cheer for the Grizzlies as they take on the Golden State Warriors! Girl Scouts will receive a special game patch while supplies last and Girl Scouts coming as a Troop will be featured on the jumbotron!

  • First Aid with CPR

    American Red Cross CPR and First Aid courses are offered to volunteers through the council.

    To serve as a Level 1 “First Aider” for a troop, a volunteer must have current certifications in both first aid and CPR.
