On October 18, John Wiley & Sons will publish Tough Cookies: Leadership Lessons from 100 Years of the Girl Scouts by GSUSA CEO Kathy Cloninger. Tough Cookies arose from a desire to share with the public the great things Girl Scouts is doing for the nation’s girls and to tell the story of the amazing work the millions of dedicated people in our movement have done in recent years to prepare Girl Scouting for the needs of a new century.
But this is by no means the only story Kathy tells. Most of Tough Cookies is devoted to a look at America’s girls, the promise they hold for our future, and the need for all of us—Girl Scouts as leaders, but many others besides—to do everything in our power to help girls make the most of this promise. As Kathy says, girls are doing wonderful things, and they are indeed some tough cookies—but they need and deserve our wholehearted support.
Tough Cookies is now available for pre-order from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other online booksellers. An onsite Barnes & Noble store at the convention center in Houston will be open during exhibit hall hours. Autographed copies of Tough Cookies will be available, along with copies of Girl Scouts: A Celebration of 100 Trailblazing Years and numerous other titles of interest to the Girl Scout community.
