Girls in Extreme Adventure Recreation (G.E.A.R.) gives girls the opportunity to explore the great outdoors while challenging themselves. Past adventures have included hiking the beautiful Appalachian Trail with other Girl Scouts from across the country, rushing down the white water rapids of the Ocoee River in Tennessee, flying through the treetops of Historic Banning Mills in Georgia and hiking the great outdoors at Kentucky’s Land Between the Lakes and Alabama’s Sipsey Wilderness.
Most adventures are open to girls age 12 and up, but some might be tailored to older girls so read the descriptions before you pack up!

March 15-17, 2017 Treetop Zipline Event
Pack your bags as we head to the outdoors of Lula, GA to experience their amazing adventure tour! Enjoy a birds eye view of the North Oconee River, ravines, ponds, pastures, and wildlife! Soar through the air as you find yourself zipping at greater heights and speeds through the lush North Georgia Canopy. Enjoy twelve zip lines, two sky bridges, three nature walks, zips overs three different ponds, twice over the North Oconee River, and RAPPEL! This adventure will conclude with a thrilling finale-a 695 foot dual zip over the Hilltop Pond- where you can race your best friend! Spend the night in newly renovated teepees and enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Command Center. We will meet at the Tupelo Leadership Center.
May 5-7, 2017 Like 2 Hike
Come and spend a weekend outdoors with our trained staff and experience backpacking through the Sipsey wilderness. We’ll pack our bags and head out bright and early to enjoy nature all day long. Be prepared to pitch a tent, build a campfire, and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors!
