Do you know what these terms mean? You would if a Girl Scout close to you was
enrolled in our re-launch of Girl Scouts LPGA Girls Golf in West
Tennessee. The Mickey McCabe Golfing for Girls program
provides mentoring and self-confidence to girls as they learn the game of golf
and continues a 15 year partnership with the Ladies Professional Golf
Association. Over 30 girls are enrolled in our spring session held at the
beautiful Jackson Country Club.
Sherry Greene, Programs Director for The LPGA
Foundation/LPGA-USGA Girls Golf, shares that, “We are extremely pleased that
the Girls Golf program has been re-launched with Girl Scouts Heart of the South
under the excellent direction of Natalie Wilson.
It is part of almost 200 sites organized and implemented through a
partnership between The LPGA Foundation and the United States Golf Association.
The Girls Scouts of the USA
are a playing partner and have been an integral part of the program since 1997.
With Natalie’s enthusiasm to bring Girls Golf to Girl Scouts Heart of the
South, she is creating an atmosphere for girls to gain the life-skills that go
well beyond the golf course.”
Thanks to the support of the LPGA, this program has been a
great success. Girls Scouts is thrilled
to be adding two more Girls Golf sites in Memphis
and Tupelo this
fall. Girls Golf is far more than just
learning the fundamentals of golf; it gives girls an outlet to grow in their
self confidence and self worth. We thank the LPGA Foundation for their ongoing
partnership in this valuable program.
