Are you organized, encouraging and love working with adults? If so, we need you! GSHS is looking for a Service Unit Manager to oversee the Girl Scout Program in the county. This person would coordinate recruitment activities, hold regular volunteer meetings, support product sales on the county-level, be the liaison between the council and the girls and volunteers in the county, and provide support and guidance to the volunteers. This position is a year-long commitment that is renewable annually following the completion of an evaluation process. The time commitment averages approximately 8-10 hours a month; with some months being more involved than others. Travel within the county may be necessary. The manager may live outside of the assigned county, but should be willing to travel if this is the case. Previous experience is not required, although helpful.

Service Unit Product Manager- Chickasaw County - NEW
GSHS is looking for a Service Unit Product Manager to coordinate both the MagNut and Girl Scout Cookie Sale for the troops in the county. This volunteer would attend the appropriate training, delivery materials and training to the volunteers and girls in the service unit, place service unit orders, coordinate deliveries, provide ongoing support and encouragement to the troops, etc. This position is a year-long commitment that is renewable annually. The heaviest time commitment for this position is between October and early April. Experience is not necessary, but would be helpful. It is not necessary that the SU Product Manager live in the county, but travel will be necessary if not.

Series Volunteer- Lafayette County - NEW
GSHS is looking for a Series Volunteer to coordinate and deliver 6-8 sessions with girls in conjunction with More Than a Meal. This volunteer will organize sessions using a prepared program outline and attend Tuesday evening meetings to provide the program for girls (frequency of sessions is decided by the volunteer). The length of this volunteer opportunity is flexible, but will likely be anywhere between 2-6 months. The time commitment averages approximately 3-5 hours per series session, including time for preparation. No experience is necessary, but may be helpful. Volunteer Orientation and some basic leadership training are required for new volunteers. This volunteer opportunity is also open an older-girl troop, as long as they have an adult willing to serve as the Series Volunteer.

100th Anniversary Take Action Project Program
Take Action Team
Volunteers are needed to assist in
developing a kit for Girl Scout individuals and groups to use that will guide
them through the process of planning and initiating their Take Action projects.
The team will review a training outline and determine how to “package” it for
easy use by Girl Scouts in their troops or service units. The timeframe for this
volunteer need is now-July 2011. Time commitment is approximately 5-10 hours.
The team will communicate primarily by email or conference call, so travel is
not necessary. Previous experience is not required. For more information,

Take Action Mentors
Girl Scouts Heart of the South is
looking for volunteers interested in serving as mentors to Girl Scout
individuals and groups while they plan and initiate their Take Action projects.
The timeframe for this volunteer need is August 2011 - April 2012, and time
commitment will vary. Mentors will communicate with their groups primarily
through email and phone, but may choose to meet with their groups in person on
occasion. Previous experience is not required, but mentors will need to become
familiar with the Take Action tool kit (available August 1st) prior

Council wide
Girl Scout Leadership Experience
Coaches (GSLE Coaches) for the troop pathway are needed to lead a new session
coming to our council for adult volunteers working in the troop pathway,
Journeys: Road trips and Detours.
As a GSLE Coach, you will lead informative, hands-on sessions that
allow new and experienced volunteers will come together to discuss and share
ideas about Journeys and how they incorporate these resources into their Girl
Scout year. Anyone interested in being a GSLE Coach should be familiar with the
GSLE model, comfortable using the Journey resources as part of their overall
Girl Scout program and excited to share their knowledge with fellow leaders.
GSLE Coaches will be given any necessary tools needed to lead sessions and will
be supported by the Volunteer Services Department.

Product Sale Adult Advisory Team

The council is looking for
volunteers to work with the Product Sales team to plan future sales: Fall
Products (how many/which flavors, incentives, etc.) and Cookie Program
(incentives, events, timeline, etc.). Approximate time commitment is 2-6 hours.
Some meetings will be in-person and others done by phone.

The council is looking for older
girls (Cadettes and up) to work with the Product Sales team to plan future
sales: Fall Products (how many/which flavors, incentives, etc.) and Cookie
Program (incentives, events, timeline, etc.). Approximate time commitment is 2-6
hours. Some meetings will be in-person and others done by phone.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities
Troop Volunteers - Council Wide
Troop
volunteers are needed in areas throughout the council to work directly
with girls participating the troop pathway. Training is available for
volunteers interested in these volunteer roles, and can be done through
online, home study and face-to-face courses. Time commitment is
generally about 10-12 hours a month. Interested?

Administrative Volunteer - Memphis
The Memphis Service Center is in need of volunteers to assist
with administrative tasks like answering phones, making copies, restocking the
forms kiosk, etc. Those interested can help any time between 8am and 5pm, Monday
through Friday. Length of shift is up to the volunteer. This volunteer
opportunity is also open to Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts who would like
some volunteer hours after school or during school breaks.
