Hey…what’s a program kit?
Think
of a program kit as a “program in a box”.
Each box is stocked with all the materials necessary to deliver a
specific program to 10-15 girls. Program
kits can be reserved by troop leaders, community partners, and GSHS staff.
Leader Approved! Juanita
Valentine, Girl Scout Leader for Troops 20274 & 20321 and Program Coordinator for Lee Co., recently used the new GSHS Program
Kits and had this to say, "
had a great girl scout meeting with 31 girls
and we worked through the Healthy Self Esteem Program Kit from the girl
scout office and it went very well."
I see two different colored boxes and there are two boxes for each topic. Why?
Programs
have to be specialized for older or younger minds. Each topic has a program kit for younger
girls (Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors) and a separate kit for older girls
(Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors) unless otherwise stated. Younger girl program kits are in pink boxes. Program kits for older girls are in blue
boxes.
Where are program kits?
A
full collection of program kits will be available at the Memphis
and Jackson Regional
Service Centers
in Tennessee and at the Columbus,
Corinth and Tupelo
Regional Service
Centers in Mississippi.
What program kits are currently available? How many more will there be?
There
are currently three program kits available for each age group:
·
- Anti-Bullying
·
- Healthy
Self-Esteem
·
- Leadership
If you have an idea for a
program kit, let us know!
When will program kits be available to reserve?
Select
program kits will be available to troop leaders in Fall 2011.
Is there a fee to use a program kit?
Troop
leaders will pay a $5.00 nonrefundable fee to check out a program kit. This fee is used to replenish materials that
have been used up. If a program kit is
returned late or returned damaged or destroyed, the troop leader will have to
pay an additional $25.00 nonrefundable fee.
How do I reserve a program kit?
Simply
complete the council’s “
Program Kit Reservation Form” and fax it in to reserve your
program kit. The Program Kit Reservation Form is available on the Girl Scouts
Heart of the South council website under the Resources tab. You can also pick up a copy of the reservation
form at any of the following Service Centers: Memphis,
TN, Jackson, TN, Corinth, MS, Columbus, MS and Tupelo,
MS. The form can be faxed to the attention of Erin Smith at (901) 797-2183.
Program
kit reservations must be made at least one week prior to the pickup date. Reservations will be accepted on a first
come, first served basis. Confirmation
notices will be sent out following reservation form processing.
Program
kits may be checked out for one week at a time.
They must be picked up by close of business on a Wednesday and returned
to the same location by close of business the following Wednesday. No
refund will be issued if the program kit is picked up late or returned early.
Can I reserve a program kit for more than one week at a time?
No,
you may only reserve a program kit one week at a time. However, you are more than welcome to submit
a reservation form for the same kit for another use at a later date.
