We have the best volunteers! Now it's time to thank them personally.

Do you know an adult in Girl Scouting who is deserving of some extra special recognition? Maybe a parent who has gone above and beyond to help you this year? A co-leader you really appreciate having by your side? A service unit manager who has done an amazing job coordinating Girl Scouting in your community? 



Nomination and Submission Deadline - EXTENDED!

All submissions need to be received by Friday, March 11 and should be complete, including all endorsement letters, in order to be considered. Anyone can nominate a volunteer. Submit them to Sena Williams, Director, Adult Leadership & Development, at sena.williams@girlscoutshs.org.

Appreciation Pin

This pin recognizes a registered adult Girl Scout’s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This service, which has had measurable impact on one geographic area of service, helps reach and surpass the mission-delivery goals of the area.

Criteria: 

  • The nominee is an active, registered adult Girl Scout.
  • The service performed by the nominee is above and beyond the expectations for the position held, and made an impact on one geographic area within the council’s jurisdiction.

Honor Pin

An Honor Pin recognizes a registered adult Girl Scout’s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, which has had measurable impact on two or more geographic areas of service, allowing the council to reach and surpass its mission-delivery goals. 

Criteria: 

  • The nominee is an active, registered adult Girl Scout.
  • The service performed by the nominee is above and beyond the expectations for the position held and made an impact on two or more geographic areas within the council’s jurisdiction.

President's Award

The President’s Award recognizes the efforts of a service-delivery team or committee whose exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience surpassed team goals and resulted in significant, measurable impact toward reaching the council’s overall goals.

Criteria: 

  • All service-team members are registered Girl Scouts.
  • All service-team members have met all requirements and expectations of the positions held.
  • The service-delivery team has significantly contributed to meeting one or more of the council’s mission-delivery goals.
  • The service-delivery team reflects the diversity of the target audience or area it serves, in girl and adult membership, in all pathways offered.
  • The service-delivery team actively recognizes, understands, and practices the values of inclusive behavior.

Public Relations Award

Local volunteers who live and work in the communities they serve are the best connection to local newspapers and media. Service Units are encouraged to take advantage of this great opportunity to promote Girl Scouting and earn an award in the process! Public Relations Activity forms are located in the Service Unit Community Relations Coordinator Playbook. Service Units who complete Public Relations activities and submit forms to the council will be recognized.



Thanks Badge I

This badge is the highest honor in Girl Scouts. It honors a registered adult Girl Scout whose ongoing commitment, leadership and service have had an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the mission-delivery goals and priorities of the entire council or entire Girl Scout Movement.

Criteria: 

  • The nominee is an active, registered adult Girl Scout.
  • The outstanding service performed by the nominee resulted in outcomes that benefited the total council or the entire Girl Scout organization, and is so significantly above and beyond the call of duty that no other award would be appropriate.

 

Thanks Badge II

This badge recognizes a previous Thanks Badge award recipient who has continued to provide exemplary service in a leadership role, resulting in a measurable impact that benefits the entire Girl Scout Movement is honored with this badge.

Criteria: 

  • The nominee is an active, registered adult Girl Scout.
  • The nominee has received the Thanks Badge.
  • The outstanding service performed by the nominee resulted in outcomes that benefitted the total council or the entire Girl Scout organization, and is so significantly above and beyond the call of duty that no other award would be appropriate.

Volunteer of Excellence 

Introduced in 2013, the Volunteer of Excellence award recognizes those volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any pathway to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through use of the national program portfolio or who have contributed outstanding service in support of the council’s mission delivery to girl and adult members.

Criteria:

  • The nominee is an active, registered adult Girl Scout.
  • The nominee has successfully completed a term of service and all requirements for the position.
  • The nominee has performed beyond expectations for the position to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls using the National Program Portfolio, or
  • The nominee’s performance has been beyond the expectations of the position and has supported the council’s mission-delivery goals in one or more of the following functional areas: Membership Development/Community Cultivation, Volunteer Relations and Support, Program, Leadership and Governance, Fund Development, and Council Support Service (such as IT, Customer Service, Product Sales, etc.)
  • The nominee actively recognizes, understands, and practices the values of inclusive behavior.

Membership Numerals

These recognize tenure in Girl Scouting. Numeral Guards are available in five-year increments to recognize total girl and adult membership years. These can be purchased through the council shop. No form/proof needed.
