This is the question we are asking thousands of girls across our 59 counties. And we invite them to join Girl Scouts and answer that question by participating in challenging and exciting activities such as:
- Wildlife Rescue
- College Tours
- Dance Clinics
- Challenge Courses
- Robotics Research
- Whitewater Rafting
- Dog Sledding
- Girls' Golf
- Community Gardens
- Eploring the Arts
What did we do today?
At Girl Scouts Heart of the South, we strive every day to answer that we are equipping girls with the courage to be strong, the confidence to lead and the character to make a difference. As we approach the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting, our goal is to bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to even more girls by doubling our membership.
So, what will you do today?
Today, we invite you to answer this question by investing in the future female leaders of our communities, our businesses and our families. At Girl Scouts, we know that one girl can make a difference and together they can change the world. We also know that one donor can make a difference:
- $35 will train and support a volunteer troop leader
- $100 will offer a year of Council programs for one girl
- $300 will sponsor the complete Girl Scout Leadership Experience for one girl

- Donors giving $1,000 or more will be recognized as members of our Juliette Low Society
Together, with your support, we can change the world.
Girls are Changing the World - Don't You Want to Join Them?
Through Girl Scouting, girls build the skills they need to be leaders in their communities, now and in the future. Silver and Gold awards are the highest achievements girls can earn in Girl Scouts. Girls apply the skills and values they have learned and take action to improve their world. We hope you enjoy this story of one girl and her accomplishment. Without your support, we could not provide the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to over 11,500 girls like Sierra.

These text phrases could be the last thing you see if you text while driving. "To receive my Girl Scout Silver Award, I had to find a problem

in my community and do a project to help people become more aware of the problem so we can all try to fix it. That way, all of us can live in a better world."
For her award project, Sierra Ellis, Ambassador Girl Scout, chose to tackle teens texting while driving. While studying for her driver's permit, she noticed news stories about accidents caused by texting while driving.
Sierra wanted her project to positively impact her peers and asked her friends to contribute their own thoughts. As Sierra says, "even though we are young, some of us really have an opinion about the subject." She did her research and developed a You Tube video. Watch "Sierra's Texting While Driving Silver Project" at www.youtube.com/girlscoutshs.
Sierra learned how to research an issue, educate others, and offer specific calls to action to address the problem. Here is a sample of what Sierra learned:
Did U Kno...
- 52% of 16 and 17 year old drivers confess to talking on their cell phones behind the wheel and 34% admit to texting while driving.
- Talking on a cell phone while driving can slow a young driver's reaction time to that of a 70 year old.
- Teens say that texting is their number one driving distraction.
Wht Cn U Do 2 Hlp
- Educate others about the dangers of texting while driving.
- Break bad habits. Sierra offers tips such as putting the phone in the glove box or back seat to avoid distraction.
- Take Action. She invites others to join her in signing a pledge to stop texting while driving.
It only takes one girl to change the world.
Girl Scouts Heart of the South wants every girl to have the chance to be that girl. It only takes one donor to make a difference.
