At Girl Scouts Heart of the South, we believe that every girl deserves the chance to be a Girl Scout. We believe that every girl deserves the chance to experience the growth, adventure, and leadership that comes with being a Girl Scout—no matter her financial situation. We’re proud to offer financial assistance to help ensure that all girls can participate in our programs, camp, and activities. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are able to provide scholarships that remove financial barriers and open doors for all girls to get involved.

Our application process has been streamlined to make it easy for families to apply for assistance, whether it’s for camp, programs, travel, or any other Girl Scout activities. We’re here to support you, and we’re committed to making sure every girl can be part of Girl Scouts and experience the incredible journey that lies ahead.

Girl Scouts is open to all girls and adults, regardless of ability to pay. Girl Scouts Heart of the South is committed to ensuring that every girl has access to the full complement of Girl Scout experiences and will remove financial barriers to that access whenever possible. Volunteers and other supporting adults are essential to the delivery of Girl Scout experiences, and Girl Scouts Heart of the South is committed to removing financial barriers to their participation.

Girl Scouts Heart of the South provides financial assistance to girls and adults who need it to access the Girl Scout experience.

Standards

Annual Girl Scout membership dues assistance for girls or adults is granted in full or part when requested as funds are available.
In addition to membership dues assistance, girl members may request financial assistance up to three times per membership year, only one of which may be troop or resident camp. Eligible expenses include:
Council-led/sponsored program event registration
Council-led resident and troop camp registration, less applicable non-refundable deposit
Council-led/sponsored travel programs
In addition to membership dues assistance, adult volunteers may request financial assistance up to two times per membership year, only one of which may be troop or family camp. Eligible expenses include:
- Council-led/sponsored program event registration
- Council-led/sponsored training
- Council-led resident and troop camp registration, less applicable non-refundable deposit
- Adult members who are ineligible for volunteer roles may be denied financial assistance
- Adults who have council debt are ineligible for financial assistance

Financial assistance is awarded based on the demonstrated need from the information provided on the Financial Assistance Request form. Please note there are three separate forms. Membership Dues Assistance, Summer Camp Financial Assistance and Travel/Events Financial Assistance.

Financial assistance cannot be used to reimburse girl or adult members for money already spent.
Financial assistance allocations are subject to availability.
A separate form must be completed for each person requesting assistance.
Adults who have council debt are ineligible for financial assistance.

To be registered as members of Girl Scouts, individuals must pay annual, lifetime, or other applicable membership dues.

Standards

Membership dues are paid to Girl Scouts of the USA. GSHS does not retain any portion of membership dues.
Membership dues rates are set by Girl Scouts of the USA.
The Girl Scout membership year is October 1 through September 30.
Membership dues must be paid in full at the time of registration.
- Membership dues assistance is available and must be requested at the time of registration.
Membership dues of one person may not be transferred to the credit of another person.
