901 Fishing Pond and Agriculture

Looking for something new for your troop to learn about? 901 Fishing Pond and Agriculture offers hands-on fishing and gardening lessons for girls in Kindergarten through 6th grade. Girls will enjoy the outdoors while getting their hands a little dirty and learning valuable outdoor skills. During the fishing lesson, participants will learn how to cast, bait, and reel a fishing pole. They will also learn fish identification and basic pond ecology. In the gardening lesson, girls will learn how to prepare soil, plant seeds, water properly, and care for growing plants. Each girl will also plant her own seed and take home a plant to nurture and watch grow. These engaging lessons provide a fun way for girls to connect with nature while learning practical outdoor skills.

From photography classes to coding workshops and even sessions on designing your own emoji, the Apple Store in Germantown offers a diverse range of engaging, hands-on classes for kids of all ages—completely free of charge! These interactive sessions provide a creative outlet for children to explore the latest technology, learn new skills, and express their creativity in fun and innovative ways. Whether your child is interested in capturing stunning photos, learning to code, or creating digital artwork, there's something for everyone. Classes are offered both during the week and on weekends, with sizes kept manageable to ensure personalized attention. Each session lasts between 30 and 90 minutes, allowing plenty of time for kids to dive deep into their chosen activity while having a blast with peers.

Clinique at Dillard’s Wolfchase provides Girl Scout troops with an engaging and educational experience focused on body awareness, self-care, and confidence. Girl Scouts will learn about the importance of developing healthy habits, including a consistent skincare routine tailored to their age. Trained Clinique professionals will guide troops through the basics of skincare, helping them understand how to care for their skin while reinforcing the importance of hygiene and self-care. This hands-on opportunity empowers girls to feel confident in their own skin while promoting wellness and positive self-image in a fun and supportive environment.

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens and Girl Scouts Heart of the South have teamed up to make it easy to earn a variety of badges at the Daisy, Brownie, Junior, and Cadette levels. Your troop will have fun learning about subjects ranging from painting to gardening while enjoying everything the Dixon has to offer. These workshops meet all requirements for badges. Supplies are included. (Troop leaders are responsible for providing badges.) Workshops for Daisies last 90 minutes; those for Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes last two hours.
Ducks Unlimited

Enjoy a sleep-in event with your troop or service unit. Enjoy hands on activities that include meeting a scientist, mud dissection, learning about our eco system, water testing and much more. Continental Breakfast is included the next morning. Brownies through Cadettes and parents can attend for free. Please note most activities take place outside. Our friends at Duck Unlimited suggest coming late spring or early fall to be able to complete the fun hands-on activities outside.

Science Fair Center: The Home Depot and Discovery Education have joined forces to build Science Fair Central and help STEAM power classrooms (or troop meetings!). This resource is great for any leader who needs help with finding STEAM activities for girls. There are worksheets, and lessons that are free!
Memphis Botanic Garden

The Education Department at Memphis Botanic Garden has taken great care to incorporate your teaching objectives into all our tours and special programs. In addition to plant science, the Memphis Botanic Garden offers hands-on programs on world ecosystems, multicultural studies, historical uses of plants, art in nature, environmental issues, and more. Have you been Girl Scouting for a wild way to meet badge requirements? Your search is over! Memphis Zoo’s badge workshops are specifically designed with Girl Scouts in mind. Each workshop teaches valuable skills through hands-on activities, zoo explorations, and encountering animal ambassadors. After completing badge workshops, girls will receive a completion certificate, signifying they have fulfilled every requirement to earn their badge. Want to snooze with the animals for a night? The Memphis Zoo also offers Zoo Snooze for Cadettes March-October! Badge Workshops available for Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes.

Metal Museum

The Metal Museum offers a variety of badge work every week, providing something for everyone. From the Maker Series badges to the Scribe badge, Girl Scouts can learn in a hands-on environment. It’s a great day filled with creativity, where participants not only explore the historic building but also create something new out of metal. This unique program allows you to express yourself through art while learning new skills.

Nobody Trashes Tennessee

Girl Scout troops of all ages can earn this patch in various ways, such as joining community litter cleanups, organizing their own cleanup at a school or neighborhood, or taking part in beautification projects at a Girl Scout camp. For Girl Scouts ages 12 and up, the Adopt-A-Highway program offers the chance to earn both a patch and a roadway recognition panel by committing to quarterly cleanups. Younger Scouts can earn a patch by completing Nobody Trashes Tennessee educational worksheets. Patches are provided by Nobody Trashes Tennessee at no cost to troops or individual Scouts. Once you have completed your event, fill out the Request Form to get your patches.

The Pink Palace and Lichterman Nature Center provides exciting opportunities for Girl Scout troops and service units to engage in hands-on learning experiences. For service units looking for a unique overnight adventure, The Pink Palace offers the Night at the Museum experience at a discounted rate. This unforgettable event allows Girl Scouts to explore exhibits after hours, participate in themed activities, and even sleep among the museum’s fascinating displays. Both programs provide an enriching way for Girl Scouts to learn, bond, and create lasting memories.

Quapaw Canoe Company

Quapaw Canoe Company offers guided canoeing on the Mississippi River. River trips flow along with a mixture of paddling (usually not more than 1-2 hours at a stretch), exploring islands, birding, beach combing, animal tracking, napping, swimming, and whatever else is of interest to you & your friends or family! Our goal is to share the profound experience of immersion in the wild beauty of the Lower Mississippi River.
From Day Trips to Multi-Day adventures. We arrive as visitors, and respect the landscape and the river as such, the home of the richest biota in the heart of our country, including superlative birds, fish, crustaceans, and amphibians. Micro-biotas on the Mississippi include deep water, shallow water, forests, wetlands, sandbars, and meadows.
No previous experience is necessary. All paddle together with expert guide in 29-foot voyageur style canoes. Expert female guides are on board any educational trips or adventures with groups of Girl Scouts.
Capacity: 6-10 paddlers. We provide all river equipment including giant canoes, paddles, life jackets, 1st aid kits, and all necessary safety and rescue gear.
Home base is Clarksdale, MS, but we have an outpost in Vicksburg, MS, and a partner in Memphis. We service and operate on the entire Lower Mississippi River (from Kentucky down to Louisiana!). We operate year-round, but best weather months are September-October, April-May.
