Silver Award | Girl Scouts

You have the power to improve your community through action

Ready to help your community and earn one of the highest awards in Girl Scouting? Cadettes can team up with a small group of up to 3 fellow Girl Scouts or work on their own. To earn the Silver Award, you will research an issue you care about, make a plan to address it, and then take action to improve your community.

You can become a Silver Award Girl Scout if you:

Are in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade
Are a registered Girl Scout Cadette
Have completed the Bronze Award or a Cadette Leadership Award

Find an issue you care about.
Build your Girl Scout Silver Award team or decide to go solo.
Explore your community and think of how that issue affects your community.
Choose a Silver Award project that can lead to lasting change.
Develop your project.
Make a plan and put it into motion.
Reflect, share your story, and celebrate.

Start with Training! GSUSA offers Silver Award Training through gsLearn. Troop leaders should plan a meeting with their girl(s) to take the training together. Training links and additional information can be found at the bottom of this page.

Cadette Guide to Earning the Silver Award
Adult Guide for Earning the Silver Award
Silver Award Project Proposal - girls complete and submit this form to their troop leader, project advisor or caregiver who approves their project BEFORE beginning work on the project.
Silver Award Intent to Solicit Funds Form - Complete and submit the Intent to Solicit Funds form AFTER your Silver Award Project Proposal is approved by your leader if you plan to request cash or in-kind donations and wait for council approval BEFORE you begin asking for donations.
Silver Award Final Report - girls complete this form with assistance from their troop leader, project advisor or caregiver when they have completed their project.
Silver Award Final Report Submission Form - Troop leader, project advisor or caregiver completes this online submission form and uploads the girl's Silver Award Final Report form linked above to report the project and completion to the council for recognition.

Take the Training with Your Girls!

Registered adults can access training for you and your girls in gsLearn . To access the training, log-in to your MyGS account and then open gsLearn from the left-side menu. Once you have gsLearn open, you can click on each training linked below to open that training. The 3-part training includes:
